MEGADETH Mainman On New CD: 'This Record Sounds Like A Metal Record'

July 4, 2006

MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has posted the following message in the "Forums" section of the band's official web site:

"It's been a long time since we visited, unless you were in the fanclub chat last month, and there is a world of stuff to inform you of. As we stand now, you all know we are in the middle of doing a new record . . .

"The new record is produced by Jeff Balding and myself, and will be mixed by Jeff, although Jeff and I talked at the beginning of this project and I made clear that I wanted a different sounding record, not unlike the 'sounds' of previous records, but stripped down of all extra stuff we had experimeted with and just make a metal record. Regardless of speed or heaviness, this record sounds like a metal record.

"Next up is touring and MEGADETH has two shows in Spain this month; Gigantour.2006.NA starts in September and ends in October, with more details coming soon; we have one show in Japan in October, after Gigantour in North America; we are nearing our release date for the details about a very possible Gigantour.2006.OZ; then there will be various dates in the states and elsewhere leading up to the European leg of this World Tour, which may end up being Gigantour.2006.EU. Any dates following this will be posted at either the MEGADETH Killing Road page or the 'Smell The Asphalt' page at the Gigantour.com site.

"There are two more releases that are scheduled for release soon and they are the Gigantour CD, which comes out August 22nd or so, and the DVD, which comes out September 11th, I believe. And then there is the 'Megadeth: Live in Argentina' record, which is tentatively titled 'Megadeth - That One Night!'

"The boys in the band and I are getting along fantastically, every one is done with their various parts, so it is all vocals, and some remaining overdubs and then it's mix time.

"I am off to go visit my family for the Fourth of July, and to those of us that celebrate it, 'Happy 4th!!!' Those of you that don't, have a great day anyway and if ya want, you can pretend you do celebrate it, or put on 'So Far, So Good… So What!', start a revolution in your little city, and make your own damn holidays."
